Meet our compassionate, dedicated instructors.

Kristyn Baribeau

Studio Owner / Teacher

I started my Classic Hot Yoga (our Bend 90 class, aka Bikram Yoga) practice in late 2007. I did not think of myself as a yoga person (what does that really mean?!?) and only went because I was suffering severe and chronic knee pain from running and a friend of a friend said she’d experienced similar pain from running and this thing called Bikram Yoga healed her knees. I was training for the Boston Marathon at the time and was willing to try anything to be able to continue running, so I signed up for the intro at what was then Bikram Yoga Bozeman and on a wintery December Sunday afternoon I walked into a class that would forever change the course of my life. It was nothing like any yoga class I’d ever taken, I WAS this kind of “yoga person!” The heat, the sweat, the intensity, the discipline, I loved it all! I finished my intro, and immediately signed up for a 60-day challenge. Practicing six days a week while continuing to train for the Boston Marathon, I not only started to heal my knees, but also set a PR at Boston, and, of course, got completely hooked on the yoga! Over the coming months and years, this amazing practice healed my body from dis-ease and imbalances I hadn’t even realized were there. I sat down in a kneel down position for the first time in over 10 years and healed several lower back injuries through my practice. And the physical benefits were just the beginning. My practice settled a very over-active mind, improved my self-confidence and body image, and made me a happier and kinder person. It changed my life by allowing the person I’d always been to shine through.

Very early on I knew that I would go to teacher training someday so that I could guide others on this journey to feeling your best inside the hot room and out there in life! In 2009, I graduated from my first yoga teacher training, and when I got back from TT the then studio owner asked me how often I’d like to teach, I told him I wanted to spend all day every day sharing this incredible practice. In 2013, I got my wish when I purchased the studio and changed the name to Bend Beyond. Over the years, I’ve completed several other yoga teacher trainings and have expanded our offerings at BB to include a whole system of effective and therapeutic yoga classes.

A year into studio ownership and still logging lots of miles on the trails and the road I suffered my worst back injury yet, a bulged disc at L4/L5. Once again, with time and patience, the yoga practice healed my spine…mostly. I wasn’t able to return to many of the activities I used to enjoy because if I wasn’t very careful, I’d end up in pain. This continued until I found my second life changing practice: Inferno Hot Pilates! IHP increased my core strength and allowed me move more freely through the world without fear of reinjury. It gave me the strength to carry my son 9 months with NO back pain. And, just like the yoga practice, it benefitted my mind as well. I had missed the heart pounding cardio high of running, and now I could get that same high with low impact, sustainable exercises. I attended IHP teacher training in 2017, and it has been a major part of our studio offerings ever since.

The combination of Classic Hot Yoga and Inferno Hot Pilates is nothing short of magical. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing hundreds of students transform their body, mind, and spirit in the hot room. Whether you have a knee injury, just had shoulder surgery, endure chronic lower back pain, suffer from depression or anxiety, or are stressed out and exhausted, both of these practices meet you where you are at and start you on a journey of self-healing and total wellness. It is my passion to support you on this journey to feeling amazing and living your absolute best life!

Many people ask why “bend beyond.” Bend Beyond is about transcending the false limitations we set for ourselves so that we realize our maximum potential. It’s about letting the best version of yourself take the driver’s seat in your life. It’s about transforming you into YOU!

When I’m not at Bend Beyond, you can find me baking cookies for my awesome husband Phill, snuggling with our son Bran, or hiking with our dog Tater. Or you might find all of us together hanging out in the hot tub, relaxing on a sunny beach, or camping in the mountains.

Hi, I’m Maddie! Originally from Columbus, Ohio, I’m a recent graduate of Montana State University. In November 2023, I discovered Bend Beyond and quickly fell in love with the energy of the hot room and the variety of classes we offer. Yoga entered my life over twenty years ago to ease chronic back pain. What began as a search for relief evolved into a fantastic journey of healing and self-discovery. As a teacher for over fifteen years, I love creating spaces for my students to harness their power, vitality, and freedom. As a mother and entrepreneur, I understand how vital these grounding practices are in juggling a busy life. You can expect my classes to feel inclusive, physically challenging, and infused with positivity and humor. My goal is for you always to leave having learned something new.

MARIA CERTO

Teacher

In 2018, a friend took me to my first hot yoga class, and I was hooked! Two years into my practice, I decided to take the teacher training. This was one of those moments that I can point to and confidently say, this changed my life. For the past 5 years, I traveled coast to coast, from Philly to Seattle, teaching and practicing. I have been to 30 plus studios and counting! I moved back to Bozeman, my hometown, and my home studio. It was an easy choice to decide to become a teacher. I am so passionate about my classes and my practice. I am honored to be a part of each student practice and progress.

Laura Jermyn

Teacher

Before discovering Inferno HIIT, I felt something was missing from my workouts. Growing up playing competitive team sports, including soccer through college, I thrived on the camaraderie and team spirit. After my soccer career ended, running became my go-to, but it didn’t bring the same excitement. In 2014, I found Inferno and, instantly, I was re-energized by the team dynamic and support. I enrolled in Teacher Training soon after, eager to share that feeling with my community. After two major injuries, a torn ACL and a triple-fractured ankle, I have turned to Inferno for recovery. The low-impact nature of the Inferno workout allowed me to quickly return to the practice; giving me the motivation I needed during my healing. I became an instructor to share my passion for Inferno; I combine my competitive spirit, team background, and personal experience with injury recovery to guide and encourage others along their fitness journey.

NOELLE JOHNSON

Teacher

I took my first Original Hot Yoga class in January of 2008. I was seeking relief from chronic back and neck pain from years of hard work in my local business. After a few classes, I knew it was exactly what my body needed. My body felt better, I slept better, and I was more present and happier. I was inspired to attend Teacher Training in 2009 so I could share this gift of yoga with others. I value the integrity and authenticity of the yoga and strive to bring a strong, calming energy into my classes. I am so grateful to be a part of the team at Bend Beyond!

I first stumbled across Hot Yoga when I was 16 years old — at Bend Beyond of all places. Knowing nothing about what I was walking into my only hope was that it would benefit my rigorous ballet training. I was dealing with chronic body aches from dance and the mental and emotional fatigue that comes with being a teenager, but I knew after spending my first 90 minutes in the hot room that this could be something very special for me. Being a perfectionist, I was drawn to the fact that I was nowhere near “perfect” in this class, and yet, I felt like I was enough because I was simply there on my mat, breathing and moving my body. I was able to discover this new sense of meditation that comes with taking a class, and learned the balance of a healthy personal challenge. As I grew older and moved out of state to different cities, my yoga practice was something I could always rely on — regardless of where I was or what was going on in the world.

Fast-forward several more years and I found myself back in Bozeman. I wanted to revisit Bend Beyond, and once again, I was welcomed with open arms. This time a new class on the schedule caught my eye: Inferno Hot Pilates. Adding IHP into my practice really felt like the missing puzzle piece, and suddenly the following year, I had the opportunity to attend teacher training. As scary as this new adventure was, I knew in my gut it was the right decision. Now looking back, it wasn’t only the right decision, but it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

With each new student I meet, my passion for helping them discover what the hot room can give back only increases. Knowing firsthand the positive impact Bend Beyond has had on my life, I am grateful to now be in a position where I not only get to assist someone create healthy change in their life, but I’m also there to witness them achieve their goals and cheer them on along the way. I’m constantly inspired by this amazing community we have — it has truly been the greatest reward.

LAURA MARTIN

Teacher

Originally from Argentina, I moved to Bozeman in 2021. I have been practicing yoga for over 19 years. I felt a stronger need to deepen my practice while I was an ultrarunner to keep my body healthy. Hot yoga not only helped to align and maintain my body but has also strengthened my mind, enabling me to manage the long hours of running in the mountains. After relocating to Bozeman, I discovered the Original Hot Yoga class at Bend Beyond and immediately loved it. Shortly after, the studio offered its first Teacher Training program, and I eagerly signed up. This was my opportunity to explore the transformative practice of yoga, which benefits my entire being, and to learn how to share this experience and knowledge with others.

LEXIE MILLEN

Teacher

I’d been practicing yoga for years but it was in college that my true passion began. There was a local gal offering early AM classes. She was strong, flexible, & confident. I always left inspired; ready to face my day.

In 2014 my family moved back to Bozeman with our 3 girls under 4. I was exhausted. My practice had suffered & so did my body. I felt weak, with major back pain. I knew I needed to take care of myself to be fully present for others. Back to yoga I went, everyday! I instantly felt better- both mind & body.

Shortly after I decided to try Inferno HIIT. The high intensity low impact, core focused workout was a perfect complement to yoga. It was FUN, music was great & the people rocked! I was hooked! As a former massage therapist I wanted to use my knowledge to help enhance the Inferno experience for others. I knew I had to become a teacher!

Inferno & Yoga are for EVERYONE & I want ALL to experience the amazing benefits. I look forward to seeing you on your mat!

JOY NOE

Teacher / BEND BOUTIQUE MANAGER

A dear friend invited me to my first Original Hot Yoga class in 2004 after I confided I had been having a serious struggle with depression. After that class I felt like I had done a marathon, I was blown away! It sparked my yoga journey. In 2013, I found my yoga family at Bend Beyond. I was so inspired by the teachers and students that I decided to become a teacher. I completed my Original Hot Yoga training in 2019 and in 2022, I completed Vinyasa Flow training. Teaching for me is a dream come true!

Through my own regular practice, I continue to transform both on and off the mat physically, mentally, and emotionally. As a teacher, I am 100% committed to helping each student discover their authentic self through a healing, disciplined, sustainable and FUN practice. Come join me at Bend Beyond, let’s sweat and heal together!

MOZELLE SOULE

Teacher

I began my yoga journey in 1999, starting with a book from the library, progressing to video tapes, and then studying Iyengar and Ashtanga with different teachers. I began practicing at Bend Beyond with the 90-minute class in 2014. The Original Hot Yoga practice has been an education in consistency and progress for me. Throughout my journey, I have found small changes last. As I age, I have learned the importance of progressing in what I can do and trying my best. My goal in teaching is to help participants move forward towards their own goals. Once I learned how to lead Original Hot Yoga, I found I enjoy sharing the reasoning behind the sequence, the benefits of each posture, and the benefits of quieting the mind. Coming to a class is a sanctuary for the participant away from the busy world, and I aim to provide that sanctuary in each class while continuing to challenge participants to grow towards their goals.

CRYSTAL TETZEL

Teacher

I love teaching because it deepens my practice and gives me more opportunities to connect to our awesome community. When I teach my goal is to give students an amazing fun workout while giving them opportunity to find acceptance of self when they find their edge or challenge each class. I’d come to my class for the tunes, energy, and group/instructor love.

Heidi Thompson

Teacher

I discovered Inferno HIIT in 2017 when I joined a friend at BB. I loved everything about it. Soon after I decided to attend Original Hot Yoga. I instantly saw how each practice complemented the other. I felt amazing after them both and couldn’t wait to come back.

It wasn’t long after that Inferno class when I began to feel nudged to become an instructor. A year later I did something way out of my comfort zone and went to teacher training.

After teaching Inferno for a few years I again felt pushed to broaden my knowledge as an instructor. It was then that I decided to join a 200hr Vinyasa Flow teacher training. That experience only further solidified my love for the practice!

Each time I step in the hot room I find myself leaving a better version of myself. I love teaching as much as I love practicing! I get to witness students push themselves to their limits and then keep on pushing. It is so inspiring! Watching students transform their lives for the better is the ultimate reward.

TAHNEE TRAYNHAM

Teacher

My first Original Hot Yoga class was in 2004. I was hooked! Yoga changed my life. I learned to truly love myself. My life improved, I became a better person. This practice has carried me through loss, injuries, and setbacks in my life. I HAD to share this practice with others. I continued my practice waiting for the perfect moment. I started teaching Vinyasa flow in 2015. I had found my calling, my true passion. Before you know it I was off to teacher training for Inferno HIIT and joined the Bend Beyond Team in 2017. In less than a year, I received my OHY certification. My passion is to teach others that they are capable of more than they realize, to teach them to love themselves as they are.

Away from the hot room, you can find me on a trail, or enjoying my family. I love the outdoors, water, and sunshine. I am a foodie and love a glass of wine with my meal. MSU Football is the best!

Show up, put in the work, and we are going to have a fun time while doing it, together!

I’ve been hanging around Bend Beyond since 2016. I love pets, cuddles, and any attention you want to give me! Most of all, though, I love seeing you come out of the hot room covered in sweat (be careful I might steal a kiss) and glowing from the inside out!
